太閤園

太閤園

Taiko-En was born from the ritzy, stylish residence of Baron Denzaburo Fujita, a heavyweight of Kansai economic community.
On the premises is spread a Japanese-style garden beloved by the baron.
Water is drawn from the nearby river Okawa, and the babbling stream, pond and monolithic stone bridge
give elegance together with blooming trees and flowers. Viewing the historical value and natural beauty,
you will forget your being in a big city. This is a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle.

The Japanese-style garden as large as about 26500 m2 makes you feel deep in nature and history. Included on the premises are a foundation stone allegedly made during Heian Period (794-1185), oddly-shaped rocks carried from a nearby island and a mountain range, venerable stone pagoda, stone lantern and many others. You can appreciate formative arts and dignity.

Plum and cherry blossoms first and then azaleas and other flowers in spring. Fireflies dancing around the heart-shaped, waterlily-lined pond in summer. Sweet tea in full blossom and autumn leaves in fall. Camellia flowers in crisp air in wintry scene. Throughout the year, the garden shows up in brilliant colors. Which means the spiritual home of Japanese.

Opening your ears, the stream is babbling and small birds are chirping in this nature-rich garden. Taiko-En’s history and the diversity of nature are reflected here for you to enjoy in a leisurely pace.
