太閤園

Thanks to the grandioso Eastern wing, the Yodogawa-Tei restaurant has its 100-odd-year-old tradition. All the oldie-goodie 13 rooms command splendid ambience of the garden. The authentic tea-ceremony dishes are prepared upon request by the chefs’ skills with ingredients in season.

The stately Japanese-style “Yodogawa-Tei” is the Eastern wing remaining of the Amijima Mansion that was constructed during the Meiji era with its main building and Western wing. The rare single-plate carving of a transom is one of the interior designs that the baron picked up for the art in living.

As if on a picture scroll, the view of the Japanese-style garden is also one of the must-visits. The landscape features a heart-shaped pond, odd, rare rocks carried from around Japan, the pagoda derived from Takeno Jyoh, who was the mentor of tea master Sen-no-Rikyu, and many others. You can enjoy the beauty all through the year.

Each of 13 large and small rooms commands the wonder of the garden. Among others, the tea houses “Zangetsu-no-Ma” and “Tairoh-no-Ma” are highly stylish and appreciated by Baron Fujita. They are best suited for holding dinners with important friends or entertaining important people.
